Women Empowerment in Uganda

The 1st Milele School of Community Graduation.

It was last year when one of our projects that is under the Women Empowerment in Uganda Program called the MILELE SCHOOL OF COMMUNITY (MSoC) kick started and a lot has been done to reach our target.

Milele School of Community started to empower vulnerable women from different communities with different skills like Tailoring, Financial literacy, Marital education, Christianity education, and Leadership skills.

Milele Foundation Uganda came up with this idea due to the different challenges we’ve been seeing different women going through and many of these are women living with HIV in Uganda, widows, teenage mothers and single mothers fighting poverty.

Some of these women have been reaching out to us asking for sponsorships for their children which isn’t an easy thing to get these days and some asking for food support for their families.

Having seen such, we decided to empower them with the mentioned skills aiming at building a self-reliance community, building a network of women equipping them to lead the transformation of their families and communities.

They went through the training and we’re really glad that it was so fruitful because their hope was restored. They gained self esteem and confidence. They also happily believe in them selves that they can make a living for them selves and their children.

After completing their scheme, they graduated on the 29TH of January 2022.

The ceremony was at the Milele premises in a colorful event with some partners invited. The beneficiaries were also given an opportunity to invite there guests to witness them being graduated and the completion certificates were handed over to the graduates.

“From the time I started making my own dresses, shirts and blouses that fit me well, I realized that I can also sew for others and earn a living. This all started by taking individual measurements with a tape measure I wasn’t familiar with in the beginning.” By Mrs. Allen Nakamyuka M one of the beneficiaries in the alumni class.

With all that shared, we don’t entend to stop on the alumni but to reach out to more and more vulnareble women and restore the same hope.

We’re planning for the next intake and we really appreciate the support from different sponsors and partners that helped us make this run.

We kindly invite anyone on board as we experience this life changing adventure.
